An Israeli missile goes awry in Gaza:

The Ghaliya family, husband Ali, wife Raisa, and three children, ages 1, 3 and 10, were having a picnic on the northern Gazan beach on a hot afternoon when they were all killed in the shelling. Israel has killed 14 Palestinians in Gaza in the last 24 hours.

Assassins’ bullets fly in Ingushetia:

First, an administrator responsible for helping Russian families resettle in the region was gunned down, and then a senior police commander was killed as he drove his three young children to school.

The children were also killed, as were the commander’s two guards, bringing the death toll in the shootings to seven.

And as we know, a child was killed along with Zarqawi. Very different circumstances in each case, but the death of innocent children is the common thread. All too common.

(NB — in Gaza the adults, too, were innocent civilians.)
