Galloway and Hitchens were on Bill Maher last night, both on the same panel (!), sandwiching the BBC anchor Katty Kay. A master politician, that Galloway, I’ll never deny it. On his best behavior on HBO, when not surrounded by his friends and fellow travelers. Making all the reasonable antiwar points, betraying little hint of his radicalism. Maher’s program is framed as casual conversation more than interviews or debate, so there was nothing of the charged atmosphere at Baruch College on 9/14. Strange to see the two behaving so calmly. Maher defused the one mini shouting match with, “I love it when the British fight.” So do we all, I suppose. Galloway’s the man I love to hate, but even I’ve grown tired of it. Go home, George.
